LRC crashes scanning activeX/com

Asked by black-beret

Windows XP home SP3
I am running the latest version of LRC 1.3.1 but having the same problem as posted by Shizuma last September i.e.
Excluding ActiveX/Com, scan completes sucessfully
Including ActiveX/Com, scan aborts and LRC closes without error report or log.

Sorry I can't remember when I first installed LRC or which version but this has only recently become a problem with this version and it's immediate predecessor.

Best Regards.

Hi Nick,
Still have the original problem and have been running LRC with ActiveX unchecked.
However LRC crashed on opening today and appeared unable to send error report.
The problem seemed to be with reading the Date/Time string.
I am about to do an uninstall/reinstall new but please can you confirm that the latest version of LRC is 07 30 2009.exe (4.1Mb)
Many thanks,
Rog

Hi,

The latest version of LRC is 1.3.3 (07 30 2009) and it should have fixed the problem that caused the date/time string to be read incorrectly. I have been unable to determine why the activex/com section isn't working on your system. I will need more information, can you please go to Start->Run->cmd and type in "systeminfo" (without the quotes). Right click and go Mark and select the output from the window and then copy it and send it to me.

Thanks!

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner>systeminfo
'systeminfo' is not recognized as an internal or external command,

/- so not sure how much info this would have given. However below is

Hi,

Since the system information looks to be okay, I am going to need you to download the debugging tools for windows so I can see what function is causing the error.

Here are the steps I need you to follow:

1. Download the debugging tools for windows @ http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols/debuggers/dbg_x86_6.11.1.404.msi and install it.
2. Open your command prompt (Start->Run->Type in "cmd")
3. Type in "Set _NT_SYMBOL_PATH = symsrv*symsrv.dll*c:\temp*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols"
4. Change to directory where debugging tools is installed by typing "cd \Program Files\Debugging Tools for Windows"
5. Open up Little Registry Cleaner and only select ActiveX/COM. NOTE: Don't start the scan yet
6. Next, in the command prompt, type in "adplus.vbs -pn LITTLE -crash -o c:\crashoutput". A dialog should come up and say that adplus is now logging information.
7. Go back to little registry cleaner and start the scan. The logger should of created files in the directory c:\crashoutput.
8. Use an archiver like 7zip to compress all the files in c:\crashoutput
9. Email the file to me @ <email address hidden>

I hope those steps arent hard to follow. If you are having problems then please let me know.

Thanks
