Why do we tags feature?

Asked by Sindhu S

I particularly don't understand the need for "Tags". Someone please explain why it is there.

Using tags one can build different relationships among entries other than chronological order. Simply put: in a well tagged diary, one can find all entries about a topic more quickly. This is especially useful for huge diaries.

Since diary entries are a mish mash of various topics/events that occurred in a day I think it would be rather hard to limit it within certain tags, sometimes you can't even give a one word tag to certain thoughts you'd type. what then?

I think having a search/filter bar would be more useful.

Also the tag bar at the bottom is obstructive to my typing, especially on a netbook where screen space is rather limited. Couldn't it be moved elsewhere? like maybe a menu?

First of all, tags are there to help you organize that mish mash of topics. (BTW Lifeograph permits spaces in tag names and does not impose any limit on their size.) Many people find tags useful but, of course tags alone are not enough sometimes and Lifeograph's tag implementation is far from being perfect.

If you wish, feel free to report a bug and explain your needs there. This is not the right place for discussing new features.
