This is possible. However, image will not be saved in the diary. Only it will be shown as a thumbnail inside the text-editor. Dragging an image file into the text editor is one way of doing it. You can also type the path of an image and it will be shown as a thumbnail. There mustn't be any other text in the paragraph though. For more info refer to the Manual.
