Black background in category list and elsewhere

Asked by Martin Butter

I just upgraded to 1.2.1 (from 1.0) under Ubuntu 14.10. Now the background of some elements have turned to black, which is quite unpleasant. This happens e.g. to the pane on the left side if the list of tags gets larger as the screen (it only goes back to gray if I collapse the tag categories and restart lifeograph). Also the pane above the entry (with date, bold etc.) and below (with the tags) have turned to black background and did not change back, ever with restart. Is there a way to bring it back to gray as it was before?

Regards, Martin

PS: I really like the other changes of the new version!

This issue seems to relate to the theme you are using. Which Gtk+ theme are you using? Also a screenshot will be helpful.

Gtk+ theme is Adwaita. Screenshot is attached.

Can you try it with the Ambience theme (the default Ubuntu theme)?

With Ambience everything is ok.

I don't know what happens here. Lifeograph works perfectly well with Awaita on other distributions. So, this may be an Ubuntu bug. Nevertheless, I am converting this into a bug report to keep track of the issue.

I just realized that if I go to Preferences, the background gets
transparent (see attachment where you can see the underlying browser
with lifeographs lauchpad-side opened; this happens also to the panels
on the left and right side which are not shown in screenshot). Again,
this affects Adwaita and not Ambience.

Yes, I can also replicate the issue with transparency. Please, use the bug report page for further posts: https://bugs.launchpad.net/lifeograph/+bug/1430208
