There is no way to recover a password. ( At least none that I know of.) If there was, do you think that encryption would be secure enough? I hope you did not lose any precious data.

I suppose not. Thanks! There's one slight issue. What if I don't want a password? Do I just have to keep putting something random into the password box before I can click the login button? Perhaps I should file a bug report...

I knew it ;)

There is a bug ( http://bugs.launchpad.net/lifeograph/+bug/577848 ) in that version which prevents creation of unencrypted diaries. Please use the latest version (0.6.3).

Okay, I updated to version 0.6.3. But the same problem is still present. The login button is disabled if the password box is empty. I just have to put something into the password box to enable the login button. It's not that bad, just a slight annoyance. Should I file a bug?

I think you are still using the same diary that you have created with 0.5.6. If this is the case and you want to continue with this file you have to fix that file like this:

a- If you want your diary to be actually encrypted, set a real password for it. i.e. after logging in click to "Tools->Change Password..." and add a password.

b- If you don't, after logging in, click to "Tools->Export/Backup Current Diary..." and select "Unencrypted Diary File"as the type in the dialog that will show up. After that use this newly created copy. It should not ask for a password anymore. If it still does, please let me know.
