what is the difference gdm and kdm?

GDM is a display manager (login screen) for use with Gnome. KDM is the same, but from the KDE project.

GDM is known not to work properly in LFScript.

Because I'm currently focussing on replacing Gnome with Mate (a fork of the Gnome project) I've decided to remove GDM from the next revision of LFScript and replace it with Slim, which I've tested and works perfectly.

I might include GDM again in the future for Gnome3. But only after BLFS has full support for Gnome3.

I'll release another stable revision of LFScript in February.
