Asked by Werner Groenewald

Why doesn't LFScript run the test suites when installing the basic system (Chapter 6)?

Previous versions of LFScript would stop execution and report a critical error whenever a command returned with a non-zero exit status. Because some of the test suites are expected to fail on certain points, LFScript would always stop and report these expected errors as critical, which made the automation process more difficult. So, at the time it was easier to leave them out.

However, in LFScript 4, error reporting is a little bit more sophisticated and I expect it would be easy to put the test suites back in the scripts (in a separate function), reduce any errors to mere warnings and continue execution normally. It's just that no one ever asked about it before, so I haven't spent any time on it.

Feel free to open a "wishlist" bug on this if you like.
