General errors while packaging

Asked by terriblenight

In lfscript4-revision8 when building gnome-core, gnome-session, gnome-desktop, gnome-terminal, nautilus and several other packages and libs return errors while compiling thus while capturing installation. As a result GNOME is not installed well and xinitrc never apears on the rootfs-(arch).img and you can never start a gnome-session. What do I need to do? Are these errors caused (maybe) because of the lack of space? Though I can add many other packages after attempting to add the gnome-core/utilities packages.

While it could be that your problems are caused by a lack of space, there are also some other known issues while building Gnome (some time ago I described one of them here: http://synthehol.blogspot.com/2010/11/dbhierxmod-gnome-build-problems.html).

A new revision of LFScript (revision 9) will be released soon, which means I'll also do a rebuild of all packages (including Gnome) soon. I'll investigate your problems then, and report back in bug #789568 (which I assume is related to this question).

Thanks for the response. Yes, the bug and the question is about the same problem, though, on the first try it totaly failed (thats why i asked the question) and the second (until fourth) time it builds fine with (nearly) no errors but when running startx it fails to load gnome.
When will revision 9 be released?

I'm not keeping a strict release schedule, but I'm hoping to release revision 9 within a week. It could be as soon as next monday (if I feel like working tomorrow and I don't run into unexpected problems) otherwise a few days later.

Can you help with this problem?
