12-10-09 Import queue still waiting for approval:

Asked by Jarret

https://translations.launchpad.net/~jbattisti/+imports

This import queue has been waiting since December 10th, 2009; I can't tell if there is something that I need to do to activate the imports or if it's up to the Launchpad team... I'f I click on the "Needs Review" link the only option is to delete or block, no approval.

FYI - these PO files were downloaded from Launchpad and p[rofessionally edited and/or the translations were completed.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

Answer stolen from jtv:

In your case, there are two reasons for this:

1. Human review.

This is a new template that you uploaded through the Launchpad web UI. It will take time for a human operator to review it the first time; future updates will be reviewed automatically.

You can make it go much faster, however, by keeping your source code on Launchpad--either by using bzr yourself, or by letting Launchpad mirror your source tree from your own bzr, cvs, git, or svn into a bzr branch of its own. You can then change your translation settings for your trunk series to read the templates straight from the bzr tree. From then on, any changes you make in the revision-controlled template will show up automatically in the Translations UI.

2. File names.

Your translation (".po") files are incorrectly named. These files should be named _only_ after their respective language codes, with the .po suffix: limewire_limewire-it.po should be it.po, etc.

Translation files with extra text in their names will not be approved for import, and so they will never be imported. Please mark the existing uploads as Deleted, and re-upload with the correct names. Translations with the correct names will be imported automatically as translations for whatever template is in the same directory. Again, this is easier to keep track of when importing from a bzr branch.

You can find this all described on http://help.launchpad.net/
