Launchpad itself

I am thinking of creating and adding a package to ubuntu repo. which is only available as source , how to do it?

I am with many of my friends are using a package and want to create a deb (ubuntu package) of that and want to add that into main repository so that people can easily install and use that package.
One of my friend had worked on its rpm also.

But i am not getting the way from where to start how to report that in launchpad.

help me please .

You can start adding the package to your ppa, in order to test it.
