move project to launchpad

Asked by Коренберг Марк

One day I decide to report bug in util-linux package. I have found link https://launchpad.net/util-linux and I do not want post bug report to LP, as the bug difinitely in upstream. Next, I decide to file bug to upstream developers, but I have found only this: http://userweb.kernel.org/~kzak/util-linux-ng/. This project does not use any bug tracker, only mailing lists.....

Later, I found https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/karmic/+source/util-linux, but it does not fix problem - no bug tracker on maintainer side...

Now, the question: How I can move this project to launchpad? So translations, bug tracker and other features will be available for this mega-project with it's subprojects. I want this project be hosted on launchpad. How to do this.

I can make you the owner of https://launchpad.net/util-linux , which is the project Ubuntu and the launchpad community is using to track the upstream project. As the owner, you can setup a mirror of the upstream code and enable translations.

Please make me the owner...

Good idea. But it's only a half of problem. After that, mirroring is possible, but project still don't have bug tracker. I'm already talking with maintainers of 'util-linux' project about moving it to launchpad. Which step I should do if they approve that?

I made you the owner of the launchpad project. You can configure the project as you like. Many projects create a team and make it the maintainer/owner of the project so that many people has the same privileges.

Launchpad can track bugs in many other bug trackers, If the upstream maintainers choose Launchpad or a supported bug tracker, the launchpad community can help triage and fix the bugs.

Can you help with this problem?
