Our project is already registered, how do I take ownership?

Asked by Louis Landry

I am a development coordinator for the Joomla project. Someone has already registered the project and I would like to take ownership so that we can do a better job of making Joomla available on Ubuntu and keep things up to date. What do we need to do to make that happen?

The first step would be to contact the person currently registered as the maintainer of the Launchpad project and ask them to assign the project to you.

That person is https://edge.launchpad.net/~wilco-jansen

If you don't have any luck there, please reply here giving us some information that shows why you should be the LP project's maintainer rather than its current maintainer.

Thanks.

I have spoken with Wilco. He says he is unsure how to assign the project to me. Is there some documentation on how to do that somewhere that I can point him to?

I am a Joomla leadership team member and development coordinator: http://www.joomla.org/about-joomla/the-project/leadership-team.html. Wilco is a former team member and development coordinator. You can see him listed on the team honor roll page at: http://www.joomla.org/about-joomla/the-project/honor-roll.html.

Wilco can make the change by visiting:

https://launchpad.net/joomla/+edit-people

Alternatively, if he posts to this thread to confirm he's happy to transfer the project, I can ask one of our sysadmins to make it.

Can you help with this problem?
