Open office spreadsheet will not close

When I have a spreadsheet open the top bar shows only an "x" no "-" or box. when I try to close it the screen goes white and the top bar goes back to the ubuntu shut down bar. if I click on the screen it then changes to a file, edit ,etc bar on top and I can go to file and drop down to "exit" and the spreadsheet will close. How can I fix this? it has worked fine for 2 years this just happened a week ago and I have tried everything I know and can't fine any way to refresh it.

You've asked a question on the Launchpad project itself. This is the right place to ask about how to use Launchpad itself, but not the best place to ask general Ubuntu questions.
