Please delete translation templates

Asked by Emilien Klein

The project is BaShare: https://launchpad.net/bashare

We would like to keep only the template called "bashare".

Please delete all the other templates, namely:
- about
- fmain
- fric
- impostazioni
- project

Question: Will your delete action effectively stop the automatic import for those templates, or will they show up again (as the different .pot files are still in the main branch, and will receive updates). We would not want those templates to show up again.

As a side note, is there an option for you to tell Launchpad only to update the main "bashare" template, so that if future .pot files land in the branch they do not get automatically imported?

Thanks a lot!
Emilien Klein

I have deleted the templates.

Like you suspected, the templates will be picked up again whenever they are updated in the branch. The way to stop them from being imported is to set them to "Blocked" in the import queue. I have done that now for those that are currently in the queue:

https://translations.launchpad.net/bashare/trunk/+imports?field.filter_extension=pot

You will have to watch for the remaining templates to show up in the queue and set them to "Blocked" then.

As I'm not the project owner, I'd just like to know if the project owner will be able to set those future unwanted templates to "Blocked", or if we will need to ask a question each time?

Actually, I am not sure about that. I know that owners can set an entry to "Deleted". Please have the owner look at the queue and see if the "Blocked" state is available. If it's available, it should also be settable.

If all else fails, please come back to us.

Actually, a commit last night re-activated blocked templates. Both "fmain" and "fric" are now present again as translation templates.
Did something go wrong, or is the status of "Blocked" not going to block future updates?

Congratulations! You discovered a bug! ;-) I filed it as bug 446160.

Fixing the bug is not hard but the fix won't be released before the next Launchpad Release scheduled for 4 November. As a work-around, I re-instated all the templates in you project BUT set them to not accept translations. This means that they do not appear in template listings accept the admin listing ("List of all templates").

Once the bug has been fixed and released, I can remove the templates again and set the queue entries to "Blocked". Please come back here and remind me, should I forget ... ;-)

Sorry for the inconvenience.
