Incomplete bug doesn't expire

Asked by Juerg Haefliger

I've set this bug 1971656 to 'Incomplete' and I expect it to expire in 60 days if no activity but I'm not seeing the note

This bug report will be marked for expiration in 59 days if no further activity occurs. (find out why)

Why is that?

Hey!

While the "Incomplete" status can trigger the expiration timer, the same timer can be disabled in the project and/or distribution level. It seems the "Incomplete" status timer has been disabled for "linux-firmware package".

I use this all the time with linux-firmware. For example bug 2095543, where the timer is active.

Thanks for the correction, I went in deeper and, I believe, found the reason. The difference is, the non-expiring bug is being watched externally by a bug watcher in github, which you can see if you scroll the right side of the UI of the bug. In Launchpad, no bugs that are watched externally ever expire. And since the other bug isn't being watched, it expires as expected.

Hope this was more helpful.

Ah yes indeed! That bug watcher was the thing that prevented the expiration timer. Thanks for digging into this!
