The approach to use the translations link on the chromium project itself (https://translations.launchpad.net/chromium). Probably best to follow up there.

Please do not register separate projects for individual translations. It's up to the Chromium authors whether to allow translation in Launchpad. You can always talk to them about this if they don't currently do that!

If they do allow translation in Launchpad, by default it will be open for translation in all languages, all in the same project. This is important to know because if you set up your own "Chromium translation" project, other users will probably try to help to translate it to their own languages. If other people are already translating the same software to the same languages somewhere else, their efforts will probably be lost. We want to avoid that as much as possible.

If the authors are interested in translation to some languages in Launchpad, but to other languages somewhere else, we can set up a translation group for them. See the documentation on http://help.launchpad.net/
