I need a project changed into a super-project

Asked by Allan MacKinnon

https://launchpad.net/linuxforclinics

This project is admin'd by me. It will definitely have more projects registered under it as a part of this one so I believe the right action would be to have it listed as a 'super-project".

Can one of the lovely admins please change this project to a super project please?

Hi Allan,

I don't think its possible to transform a regular project into a "projet groups" (the official denomination for super-project).

I retargeted your question to the launchpad project where a Launchpad admin will take care of your request and create
a proper "project group" for you.

Good. I hope they are able to do something with it.

I can create a project group, but I need a name and a purpose for it. Can you give me a concrete example of what products would go under it?

I essentially need this page https://launchpad.net/linuxforclinics turned into a project. "Linux For Clinics" is our project's name. The purpose is clearly stated on our current Launchpad page mentioned above.

These following projects aren't in launchpad but they will be assembled and managed by the LFC team:

'Hakuna Matata' which is a series of clinical lab plugins for GNUmed.

'Diagnosis Engine' is a lbrary of mindmaps that will outline the diagnostic process of identifying disease (good for students and practicing doctors). We have yet to make a front end for it but we may take a copy of the Vym source code and remove all of the editing features so it's display-only. That is unless we can find something better.

'LFC Student Library' which is a library of medical class notes. We'll use OpenOffice formats as 'dev' files and PDFs as the actual product. Evince and OpenOffice are the only software we'll need for this.

Also our description on our current lp.net page lists a bunch of seperate projects we want to include. We may have to compile our own debs if we find problems with the ones we are offered. Plus there are things we would like to configure to make some installation steps easier. I don't know if this would qualify them as 'products that go under it' since we are not behind the development of the software, just packaging/configuring/installing it.

Any more questions? I think I'm providing the correct answers.

There is no facility today to convert projects to project groups. However, you can transform your exisiting project into one of the projects you have listed above (and therefore avoid the need to get it removed) -- basically updating the descriptions associated with it. I've taken the initiative of renaming linuxforclinics to hakuna-matata and created a new linuxforclinics project, owned by you, that includes it.
