[Spam report] a new spam attack

Asked by Manfred Hampl

Dear admins,

there are new spam messages in Ubuntu questions by

https://launchpad.net/~yijaraw254
https://launchpad.net/~yahisox
https://launchpad.net/~filosoy

I want to suggest, to implement some kind of blocking logic (at least temporarily), such that messages containing strings like "Call girl" and "+971" cannot be stored.

Hi Manfred, thank you for reporting spam to us. I have cleaned up the spam and suspended the posters' accounts.

The Launchpad team is currently travelling and is in the middle of two weeks of sprints. So we might be unable to deal with this pro-actively in various ways, including the one that you have suggested. However, we do have various scripts running periodically to catch some known types of spam automatically after the fact and handle them appropriately. Those have been catching and cleaning up a lot of spam already.

We have some plans on things to do prevent such spam and hope to get it implemented in the coming weeks. 🤞
