keyserver.ubuntu.com: delete/update key

Asked by Tanzbaer

Hi there!

I uploaded a PGP-Key to keyserver.ubuntu.com a while ago. Due to privacy concerns, I changed the user id. Also, I added an expiration date. However, when I upload the updated key, the old version is still available. Seahorse sync does not replace it either. I suppose this will be the same when revoking the key. Is there anyone I could contact to delete it server-wise?

I tried deleting the old key myself, but all I can do is removing the new version. I followed this tutorial: https://github.com/hockeypuck/hockeypuck/wiki/HIP-1:-Regaining-control-over-public-key-identity-with-authenticated-key-management

Changing the last line of the example script would let me delete the new, but not the old key:
> curl -i -v --data-urlencode keytext@$keytext --data-urlencode keysig@$keysig $2/pks/delete

PGP sound so convenient, but it's so painful in practice...

Thank you so much!!!

Hi Tanzbaer, keyservers do not allow/support deletion of keys for various security reasons like it has been explained on https://askubuntu.com/a/626549. So your old key information will always be available on the keyservers and there is no way to delete it.

Since this question has nothing to do with Launchpad itself and there is no way to do what you are asking for, I am proposing to mark this as 'Solved.

Hi Guruprasad, thank you for the link. I checked it before, but now I discovered someone was able to delete their key filing an enquiry at https://ubuntu.com/legal/data-privacy/enquiry. I'll try this too :)
