Ticket # 79673 will not allow me to log in to internet

Asked by steve hussey

Please see ticket # 79673 for information in relation to logging in problem.

First, are you aware this ticket can be found and is accessible through Google? Merely typing the "#79673" for page request will bring this page up.

Why make this page a SSL page if this information will show up elsewhere on the Internet?

Second, I have had problems with my yahoo account which is also used for logging in here. I have had to change the password; Yahoo has been notified and has now elevated the problem of logging in to high priority. Two other yahoo accounts I use have shown they are linked to the primary one used here even though I am not logged into the primary account at the time. For example, I cannot verify the account name in the account I am logged into because yahoo says I am still logged into the primary account when I know I am not.

Re: Launchpad:

Attempting to log in to the SSL login page "here" caused an 'account not found' result. I changed the launchpad password and was successful in logging in to the supposedly lost launchpad account. As you know, this account name is the same as my primary yahoo account.

Third, I am beginning to think these two different problems are related because I cannot login to yahoo using my ubuntu with user/administrator rights, but am able to use yahoo in a second user account (limited rights) I created. I am using this account right now.

Why might this be happening? Cookie settings are the same in both the administrator and user accounts. I have Firefox 3.0.13, the latest update possible for Ubuntu 8.0.4.3.

Fourth, I think someone needs to fix the SSL leak, and do it as soon as possible.

As for ticket #79673, there is no secure socket layer transmission at avast! but something is delaying or preventing tcp connections from occurring. Point me in the right direction with the help needed and perhaps others will be helped by a problem they did not even know they had.

I am sorry about the problem with yahoo login.

It turns out I was blocking a necessary cookie "us,mc655.mail.com" for yahoo on login. I used Firefox to block this cookie.

So I was not telling the truth when I said cookie settings were the same in both admin and user accounts for Ubuntu.

Unblocking this cookie allows login.

The SSL leak still is of some concern to me, as is the tcp problems outlined in connecting to only one web site, www.avast.com.

Thanks,

steve

There is no SSL leak. We serve all content over SSL, including information that is public (like bug numbers).

As for the ticket you described, or the Avast.com issue, neither appears to be a Launchpad issue. If I am wrong, please feel free to provide more information.
