editing answers

Asked by Jim Hutchinson

I'm fairly new to Launchpad so I could be wrong, but it doesn't appear there is a way to open and edit a reply (answer) that I have written. I see that questions can be edited (apparently by anyone?) but not answers - even ones I've written. Is that correct? If so, is there a reason behind that? I sometimes notice that I have made a mistake and would like to correct it but once submitted I can't. If you want to prevent people from making changes to answers on a whim, why not leave an edit option open for say 24 hours and then after that lock it?

You cannot edit your answers this at this time. Nor can you delete/hide you answers to replace them with another answer. Editing answers is desirable, and has you have pointed out, there are some complications. We have not had time to implement editing answers, and I 'm surprised there is not a bug filed about editing comments.

Well, I don't know if I'd call it a bug but I guess if it doesn't do what you want then it's a bug. Anyway, thanks for the info. That confirms that you can't edit and that it's "being considered" maybe.

Thanks.

It's a bug in my books as well.
