Why do I see these languages after uploading my template?

Asked by Honore

For the WiserEarth translation project (https://translations.launchpad.net/wiser-translation), was there something in our template file that added in Inuktitut and Yiddish as languages available for this project? I believe we only wanted Spanish, so I'm wondering how we ended up with 2 other languages. I thought initially it might have just been my preferred languages, but when I'm not signed in as a user and visit the project page, those are the 3 translation templates I see. Can anyone explain how Inuktitut and Yiddish got bundled in there, and how would we go about removing them and adding other languages?

I am sorry, I cannot reproduce what you are describing here. I only see Spanish (and my preferred languages). I am looking at this page:
https://translations.edge.launchpad.net/wiser-translation/trunk/+pots/wiserearth

Please provide a link to the page where you see the problem.

Hi Henning, thanks for responding - the page is the same as the one you linked to, but try viewing it when you're not logged in, so that you don't see your preferred languages. What I'm wondering is why for the unsigned in user, who has no preferred languages set up, I would see 3 languages - Spanish, Yiddish, and Inuktitut.

Here's a link to a screenshot of what I'm seeing - http://www.wiserearth.org/file/view/952b5f52930deeac6d89162cfa3aac60

That's because we base languages shown in that case on GeoIP data, and you are likely browsing Launchpad from United States. These three languages are listed as being spoken in United States (see https://translations.launchpad.net/+languages/yi, https://translations.launchpad.net/+languages/es, https://translations.launchpad.net/+languages/iu).
