can i install ubuntu on dell laptop

I have ubuntu 9.04 desktop edition i want to install it on dell laptop .Can i do that is there is any problem on installation or any alternative edition is available please inform me.

Yes 9.04 works fine with DELL D610, D630.

Please provide more detail on specific hardware you would like to confirm.

yes, you should be able to install ubuntu with no problems on that laptop. if you want to before you wipe out your hard drive you could test ubuntu by using wubi which you could find it and more information at this link (http://wubi-installer.org/).

wubi will pretty much create itself like a windows application, but the only thing difference is that you will be performing dual-booting. when i first started using ubuntu this is what i started with... and then i completely changed to linux ;).
