Not receiving Launchpad email when uploading to PPA

Asked by Skia

Hi,

As discussed on this question [1], it seems I never receive any email when `dput`ing package to a PPA.
My last uploads were in this PPA, if you need timestamps of uploads: https://launchpad.net/~hyask/+archive/ubuntu/klibc-2046336

I also confirm that the following address is correct as "Recipients": Skia <email address hidden>.

Thanks for investigating that issue. :-)
Cheers
Skia

Hi Skia! Thanks for reporting.

I just gave it a quick try to upload a PPA, and I did received an email with the rejection message, so it we will need to dig a little to understand why you in particular didn't receive an email.

While we are at it, can you confirm that the email wasn't filtered by any email filters?

Yes, that's actually the first thing I checked. I see nothing in my sieve log, and I carefully checked every folder. As additional information, I don't have the Gmail canonical email, it's the second option with mail.canonical.com that I use.

Thanks for confirming!

That does seem like it could be relevant. Any reason why you wouldn't have email with mail.canonical.com listed as your prefered email in your profile? Or did I misunderstand?

Oh, sorry, maybe I wasn't clear. I'm just stating that my @canonical.com email is not a gmail one like some people have, but one that goes through mail.canonical.com. Still, it is set as my preferred email address in my profile.

Thank you for clarifying :)

I don't think we will be able to get to the bottom of this before the end of the year. So far I haven't been able to find anything relevant in the logs, but we will continue with the investigation when the team is back from holidays in January.

For now, I'll leave this open.

Sure, no problem, I won't be very active on any PPA during the holidays either.

Hey, I just checked today, and I received all the emails at once. Given the folder modification timestamp on the mail server, they seem to have been received around this UTC time: 2023-12-19 12:12:17. Therefore, I just retried an upload, and got an email within two minutes.

I don't know if any of you fixed anything, but for me, the problem is solved.
