Problem installing the Ubuntu 23.10 tvheadend package

Asked by SDR

Problem installing the Ubuntu 23.10 tvheadend package (4.3.0~pre+202307191953-0~built202307192056~gitc531383ca~ubuntu23.10.1) from the mamarley/tvheadend-git repository
The tvheadend package is compiled using legacy Ubuntu 23.04 libraries
libavformat59 7.5.1
libavcodec59 7.5.1
libavutil57 7.5.1

Ubuntu version 23.10
libavcodec60 7.6.0
libavformat60 7.6.0
libavutil58 7.6.0
Downgrading libswresample4:amd64 from 7:6.0-6ubuntu1 to 7:5.1.2-3ubuntu1 allows you to install outdated libraries and the tvheadend package, but causes conflicts with a lot of other programs.

Проблема при установке пакета Ubuntu 23.10 tvheadend (4.3.0~pre+202307191953-0~built202307192056~gitc531383ca~ubuntu23.10.1)

If you have problems with (or questions about) software from a PPA (Personal Package Archive), then you have to contact the person or group responsible for the PPA.

For https://launchpad.net/~mamarley/+archive/ubuntu/tvheadend-git please see https://launchpad.net/~mamarley and the "contact this user" link in the top right corner of that page.

Remark:
I see a newer version on the PPA, 4.3.0~pre+202310261753-0~built202310270245~git62adbebfd~ubuntu23.10.1
Why do you try installing an older version?

I received a different answer:
--------------------------
I apologize for this issue, but there isn't anything I can do about it.
The problem is that Ubuntu upgraded from ffmpeg 5.x to ffmpeg 6.x and
TVHeadend is incompatible with ffmpeg 6.x. Therefore, all recent
compilations have failed, leaving the old binaries from before the
ffmpeg 6.x upgrade. There isn't anything I can do about that until
TVHeadend adds support for ffmpeg 6.x.

Apparently, after my requests, he made changes and updated the package

Check out the repository
https://ppa.launchpadcontent.net/mamarley/tvheadend-git/ubuntu/pool/main/t/tvheadend/
It can be seen that for Ubuntu versions from 18.04 to 23.04, a newer version of the tvheadend_4.3.0~pre+202310261753-0~built202310270245~git62adbebfd package is installed.
For Ubuntu version 23.10 there is an older version tvheadend_4.3.0~pre+202307191953-0~built202307192056~gitc531383ca~ubuntu23.10.1

Sorry, my fault. Quoting the tvheadend_4.3.0~pre+202310261753-0~built202310270245~git62adbebfd version was wrong. I did not verify the status of the package and was not aware that it always failed to build.

In any case, that's nothing where Ubuntu or Launchpad can help. The problem has to be solved either by the original TVHeadend provider or by mamarley by modifying the source.
