Merge mdata-client and joyent-mdata-client into triton-mdata-client

Dear launchpad team,

We are in the process of renaming the joyent-mdata-client package[0] to triton-mdata-client and would like to see the new name reflected on launchpad as well. Is such a renaming possible while redirecting from the old package names to the new one?

The projects we would like to merge are:

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/joyent-mdata-client
- Contains package and source code of package that will be renamed
- Not linked to upstream project yet, duplicate?

https://launchpad.net/mdata-client
- Linked to upstream project
- Not yet linked to package joyent-mdata-client that will be renamed to triton-mdata-client

How would be best proceed to handle this?

Just a quick note on this as I'm getting to the end of my working week. We can move projects around and redirect and such, but Ubuntu source package names are entirely up to the Ubuntu team and not us (and there's no facility to redirect from one Ubuntu source package name to another). Also, projects and source packages are separate things - they can be linked, but one cannot redirect to the other.

As I currently lack the permissions to do so, Colin did it during our standup.

I will also create an issue for adding permissions to all Launchpad devs.

Can you help with this problem?
