Private PPA request for ppa:savoury1/ffmpeg

Asked by Rob Savoury

Hi, a newly created PPA (ppa:savoury1/ffmpeg) under my Launchpad site is for private/subscriber use only. Can the visibility please be changed from public to private? Thanks!

Any change of getting this done by the weekend? Would like to start making use of this PPA for private builds. Thanks.

Hi,

Private PPAs are a commercial feature of Launchpad, and not a facility we generally make available for free. Can I ask if you have an existing commercial relationship of some kind with Canonical (e.g. a paid Ubuntu Pro subscription)?

Hi, thanks for the response and I did not know that private PPAs are a commercial feature only. No, I do not have an existing commercial relationship with Canonical. Looking at https://ubuntu.com/pricing/pro it seems that Ubuntu Pro for a single workstation costs $25/year. Would a minimal level of commercial relationship with Canonical such as that (ie. paying for Ubuntu Pro on one workstation for $25/year) be sufficient for me to have a private PPA?

Still waiting on a follow-up. Can someone please provide an answer as to what level of commercial relationship with Canonical is required for me to have a private PPA? Thank you.

Sorry for the delay - it took me a while to find the conversation I remembered for a similar request a while back. Unfortunately, the internal message I remembered was in terms of the old Ubuntu Advantage structure, which was replaced recently; I'm not sure exactly how to translate that into Ubuntu Pro terms, and I don't have the authority to set pricing policy here.

I've reached out internally to a few of the support managers who were involved in that previous conversation to ask them to give me an authoritative answer, which I'll then make sure goes into our internal documentation so that we can answer this sort of thing more quickly in future. I'll let you know as soon as I get an answer.
