I've a PPPoE connection , how can I check ????

I asked other people , they told they sufer from the same problem these days , ok thanks too much.

The keyserver is definitely functioning correctly at the moment and is accessible from the Internet.
Are you perhaps behind a firewall which is blocking port 11371?

Perhaps try another public keyserver as well?

Can you ping the keyserver? Run a trace route to it?

how to ping it ?? i don't know how + I've installed Firestarter by i've disabled it + I tried to connect to keyserver from firefox under linux and from internet explorer under windows , but it show me that the server doesn't repond while you are saying that it does.

The problem is I can't also send the key to other servers. I don't know why ?????

You can go to Applications > Accessories > Terminal

And type:

ping -c 50 keyserver.ubuntu.com

And paste the final results (usually about 3 lines here) after it completes. It should take less than 1 - 5 minutes depending on your connection speed. It will tell us if you have any problems connecting to the server.

Have you tried using Seahorse, the graphical end to GPG, to send your keys to a keyserver? If not, try it.

Applications > Accessories > Passwords and Encryption Keys

Select the key you wish to synchronize. Then click Remote > Sync & Publish Keys.

Remember, you can also select a different keyserver if the above is the only one giving you an issue (which it may very well be). Go to Edit > Preferences. Where it says Publish Keys To...select a different default server (such as keyserver.pgp.com). This is on a different port altogether. This would help us troubleshoot if it is indeed that single port. The MIT keyserver is on the same port. I suggest you try publishing to keyserver.pgp.com.

Concerning The GUI , I tried it , but it doesn't work , it can't synchronize the key because it can't access to keyserver.ubuntu.com

I can enter to other servers from firefox , but when I send the key via

Can you access http://keyserver.ubuntu.com:11371/ using your browser? If you can then you can open your key in a text editor and paste its contents there to submit it.

No I can't . Neither from firefox not from another . I tried to connect to this website from windows , and it doesn't connect too.

This is either:

a) a local problem with your NETWORK;
or
b) a local problem with the computer you are on.

That will eliminate A.

b) If it is the computer, simply try sending your GPG key from another computer on your network. Or a computer at a community center etc. (wherever, even at a friend's house...). You can use the keys website and a simple USB drive. This would eliminate #2.

I am betting on #1.

After you have done this (and I am betting it will work) we can try to see what the problem is/was. But we are not getting enough information to troubleshoot the problem here. Your frustration is understandable, but please understand we are just trying to help and we are all just volunteers in the community. There is no need to "yell" or use "explanation points" to try to bait us into feeling angry. We are *not* support representatives. Again, I feel your frustration and I do indeed want to help. There are just many unknowns in this equation...

What is your network setup like? You mentioned another P.C. Are you behind a router...? How is it configured?

However, please provide information on your network setup (router/firewall, blocked ports, etc.), Ubuntu version, firewall applications or antivirus applications installed (firestarter? or anything else...), etc.

I also used Seahorse (Applications > Accessories > Passwords & Encryption Keys). These also failed even when selecting a different primary keyserver for syncing the selected key.

I do not know what to do. No matter what I try sending/syncing my key fails.

It looks like you're behind a firewall which doesn't allow you to connect to any host on that port. Can you try submitting your key through http://pgp.mit.edu/

To do that you have to run the following command on the terminal:

    gpg -a --export <your-email-address>

And then copy and paste the output of that command into the 'Submit a key' text area of the http://pgp.mit.edu/ page.

I'm behind a firewall !!! I I installed Firestarter to desactivate the firewall. The service is disabled .

I tried that command before , but I try to submit the content to http://pgp.mit.edu/ page , firefox , shows me the error of Time Out !!! .
