How can I rename a ppa?

Asked by Tim Sutton

The launchpad ppa admin tools only let you change the displayname of a ppa - I need to rename or delete and recreate a ppa - can you tell me how to do this? I need:

https://launchpad.net/~qgis/+archive/stable renamed to https://launchpad.net/~qgis/+archive/qgis-unstable

and

https://launchpad.net/~qgis/+archive/ppa renamed to https://launchpad.net/~qgis/+archive/qgis-stable

Once again note that its not the display name we want to change but the repo name itself.

Many thanks,

Tim

PPAs are not designed to be renamed and it generally causes a lot of problems when people do rename them.

Since it looks like you don't have a great deal of packages, the easiest solution is for you to open those new PPAs, and copy the existing packages to them, including binaries. Within 20 minutes they will get published and you'll have what you need. You can safely delete the packages in the "old" PPAs and then ignore them.

I hope that helps!
