Launchpad username taken

Hello,

I can't set my Launchpad name to wcbutler which is what generally all my other accounts around the internet are set to. When I go to that name via https://launchpad.net/~wcbutler/ I don't see it taken by an individual or team. If this set to private and I can't see it or can that username get cleared out so I can take it over.

I know this isn't super important but it would be nice.

Hi,

I see that there is an existing account with the username, wcbutler, that can be activated by signing in with the email address that was used to create it. Can you try that out? I cannot share the email address associated with that account for obvious security reasons. You should be able to log in to that account if you have access to that email address.

That account had no email address attached to it because it was accidentally invalidated on the same day it was created. I have worked with the appropriate team and gotten them to reattach the email that was invalidated.

So if you have access to the wbutler address on Gmail, you should be able to log in to launchpad.net/~wcbutler account and claim it. We can then look into merging this account into that so that you end up with one account with the username of your choice.

Please let us know once you have activated that account.

@lgp171188 how do I claim it? I'm logged into the gmail address on here associated with wbutler and can go to that page but it says page not found and I cannot switch my username from wbutler to wcbutler - it still says "wcbutler is already in use by another person or team."

I am not sure I understand what you have tried doing. Can you try logging in to Launchpad using the 'wbutler' Gmail account and let us know what happens when you do that? You should be logged in to the 'wcbutler' account after doing this, if there are no other issues.

I can't seem to move my Launchpad ID to wcbutler. When I login with my Gmail I get into the wbutler account fine.

The launchpad.net/~wcbutler account is linked to the <email address hidden> address. So can you try logging in to that Launchpad account using the '<email address hidden>' address (after performing a password reset, if necessary) and let us know if the login worked?
