Assumes too much.. Too Complex/Technical

Asked by Simon Shapiro on 2020-04-23

I really wanted to report some real issues with Kubuntu 20.04, but was told tersely to come here.
To quote;"launchpad". What/where is Launchpad? "launchpad.net".
For a layman, this would have been time for "Where is Android?"
however, I am not a layman, so after 2 days of research, here I am.

Did anyone count the number of keystrokes before getting to ask a question?
Forget that. How many times one has to enter login (nope, it really needs be an email address)?
How many assumptions? Acronyms?

How about a prologue containing every word that is not in plain English? Every overloaded term?
Larger font?

This isn't really actionable. I'm sorry you had a bad experience. We're generally working to improve things.

How about assigning it to me?
Given some more experience navigating this expert maze, and assuming I will
not forget this experience, I assure you I can demonstrate clearly how &
why this IS an actionable item.

Simon

P. S. First I have to get rid of this habit of puting the answer before the
horse (question ;-)

I'm sure there may be individual actionable things, but a support ticket about how everything is terrible isn't a particularly good place to start - the answers section is for short-term support actions, not for improving the software. You can absolutely file bug reports or merge proposals for discrete, concrete, actionable changes though!

i am still learning my way around. the last thing I want is to appear as
the crusty old man I am.
i do find the current system to be a great expert's system.
i am looking or a path through all the jargon and assumptions to a simple
gateway to just say:

i am struggling with going blind, so just bear with me. I am a quick learner...

in a nutshell, first, that you take this anonymous nag seriously, is a great attribute.
Then, I install KUbuntu 20.04. i found it a delight. But since the last time I installed Ubuntu, oh never mind that.
I found several things less than perfect. i really want them reported, as an end user would have.
It took me two days to partially parse "launchpad" ;-)
As an enduser, I really cannot parse all that is trivial to you. Just give me a simple screen to type/cut&paste, etc. what I found.
No assumptions, no preconcieved notions. if any, parse them or me [Mr.,Ms., Whatever, End User]
Do that and you have an admirer for life.

If you assume I missed many HTML links before posting here, you are only partially correct.

We are in loud agreement, otherwise.
