Not able to import PGP key

Asked by Nikos Roussos

I can't import my key to launchpad. My key is on Ubuntu's keyserver for quite some time now.

I add the fingerprint, with spaces as the help text suggests but I get a " Launchpad could not import your OpenPGP key" error.

And apparently I'm unable to publish any packages because of missing key.

Hi, Nikos. Sorry for the delay on replying.

Are you using gpg2 to generate your key? Launchpad is currently only compatible with GPG v1 keys (https://bugs.launchpad.net/launchpad/+bug/1827369).

Could you please generate another key using a GPGv1-compatible type (like RSA)?

That's not an option I'm afraid. If it was just for signing packages that would be fine, but Launchpad requires I upload the key to a keysever first, which will be mirrored to all public servers. It would be confusing for people who want to send me an encrypted email if there are two valid keys out there.

Thiago is right to tell you that it's the only option that will work today, I'm afraid, which is what's in scope for support requests. The rest needs to be tracked in a bug rather than here.

Can you help with this problem?
