OpenPGP key registration through Outlook

Asked by Daniel Wallace

I am trying to register my OpenPGP public key with Launchpad. I've successfully uploaded the ascii armored key to launchpad, and now it would like to confirm my key by sending me an e-mail encrypted with that key. I cannot configure Outlook to use the key. so obviously, I can't read the message that Launchpad sent. Is there another way to confirm my key?

Thanks.

Hi,
The best way is to use an email client that supports PGP like Thunderbird, alternatively you should be able to do it manually with the PGP CLI.
Thanks

Can you expand on how to do it with the CLI as using an alternate client is not an option.

Thanks.

Hi,
This guide might be of use https://help.launchpad.net/YourAccount/ImportingYourPGPKey
It details the process required to import a key via the command line clients.
Thanks,
Tom

This would probably work, however, we use proofpoint, and the messages is edited as the urls are scanned, and then translated into proofpoint urls. The original e-mail unaltered is not available to me.

This was closer.

Thanks,

Dan

Wait, I had 2 keys. I was able to delete the extra key, and it worked.

Thank you!
