Help for Mint

Asked by Greg on 2019-10-04

Hello,

I'm hanging around the Launchpad to find if I can help to improve this system at least a bit. I'm using version 19.2 PL and I've already found a few bugs, untranslated strings or bugs in translations. To be honest Launchpad page is a bit complicated for me as it seems to be multilevel structure which also redirect to other pages like Ubuntu, so I feel a bit lost in it. That's why I decided to ask you Guys a question. Is there any complex manual how to report bugs including how to not duplicate bugs, where exactly report it? The same regarding translations. Also should I cooperate with any particular team or it depends on the package where I found a bug and a developer team responsible for the package? Maybe I can clear some doubts via chat. Hopefully someone will find a time to answer my queries.

Thanks in advance.

Greg

No help needed. Awesome, so I can allocate time for something different, yay :-)

We can't help you with Mint. At least some versions of it have been on Ubuntu, but its development processes are almost entirely disconnected from Ubuntu's, and despite hanging around Ubuntu in one way or another for 15 years I've more or less never had any involvement with Mint. You'll need to look at whatever developer documentation it provides.

This support tracker is for problems with the launchpad.net site itself, not really for this sort of question, hence the delay.

Regarding Ubuntu, these links might be helpful:

  https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs
  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs
  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Translations

And in general who you work with is going to depend very heavily on what you're working on.
