Launchpad itself

I wanted to login via launchpad to askubuntu and it created a new account.

I thought my launchpad account was linked to my askubuntu or stackexchange account.
I think it used to be like that.
(I lost the login info in my browser. )
But now I have a new account

I can however still log in to the old account via google

Is it possible to merge or link the account again?

Yes, you should be able to do this yourself since you have access to both accounts. Follow the directions here:
