Create snap from private git repo

Asked by Anthony Wong

If a git repo is private, I can't create a snap package from it. What I mean is the link https://code.launchpad.net/~anthonywong/+git/<git repo>/+ref/master/+new-snap is not accessible if <git repo> is private. Why is that?

Because that feature isn't supported yet: it's moderately complicated because the builders have to be granted enough access to clone the private repository during just that build, as well as all the usual complexities of adding new kinds of private objects.

Getting this going is likely to be a few weeks of work, and it isn't currently scheduled. If your team at Canonical needs it, I suggest you raise it through your management chain so that it can be slotted into some appropriate place in our roadmap.

Can you help with this problem?
