Can't reupload deleted package

Asked by Gijs Molenaar

I have a long-running PPA and a long time ago I deleted a package. I now want to re-upload it, but this is impossible. When I upload the message I get this message by e-mail:

Rejected:
File purr_1.3.1.orig.tar.gz already exists in KERN development, but the uploaded version has different contents. See more information about this error in https://help.launchpad.net/Packaging/UploadErrors.
Files specified in DSC are broken or missing, skipping package unpack verification.

In the UploadErrors documentation is stated that I should download the original pristine tarball, but this is impossible since I deleted the package. There is no way I can recreate the package. What should I do? I've encountered this problem a couple of times now and I want to find a proper solution to fix this.

You'll need to change the version of the tarball. It's not possible to upload the same file with different contents again.

Can you help with this problem?
