how to automatically copy/import translations from trunk to new release series?

Asked by Alexander Belchenko

If I have project registered on Launchpad (I ask about bzr-config, but my question is also related to Bazaar VCS project) and I already upload POT file for trunk series. I have some translations in trunk. Then I do release or release candidate and create new release series in Launchpad. By default new release series appears without any translations and I must to import all existing translations again. Anf as I can see import process is VEEERYYY SLOOOW, even if I download translations from trunk and then upload them without ANY modifications.

How I can to copy existing translations from trunk into new release series? This operation is needed only once of course, when release series created. After forking new release series from trunk they POT files will diverge, and this is OK.

May be launchpad suppose different working plan for such situations? Or I misunderstood something?

There is currently no way to directly copy translations from one productrelease to another. I've reported this as bug #115020.

We are working on making import process faster so at least part of your problem should be fixed soon.

Can you help with this problem?
