My Linux Respin

Asked by Cherry Bakewell

Would I be able to host my Xubuntu re-spin project on LaunchPad? I have setup a sourceforge account but my account has been unexpectedly closed? I am stuck as what to do...

If anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know!

Thanks.

What sort of hosting do you need? It sounds like a reasonable thing in principle, but it's possible there are some limits that would get in your way; we can advise you better if you could give some more details.

Hi Colin! Thanks for your message. I would need either some sort of WebSite hosting or a project page like SourceForge, where I can upload my ISO file to. I have made a new SourceForge account since my post, but I am still interested to see what you would have, if anything, to offer over SourceForge. Many thanks, Cherry.

Launchpad doesn't offer full website hosting, only project pages (with some configurable text, but not your own web design). We do have project file hosting, though limited to 1 GiB which may or may not be enough for ISOs. See https://help.launchpad.net/Projects for more details.

It sounds like Launchpad may not be a great fit for what you're doing; it's good for projects that need version control or bug tracking or that kind of thing, but not so much if the project really only consists of ISO downloads.

Okay. Thanks for your reply. I will use it for hosting some of my software packages that I'm writing and such. Thanks for your help! Cherry.
