Asked by br24

Can I go here to get Ubuntu Wiki pages translated? I would like to translate English into Spanish and Navaho. If not, where can I go?

Well, launchpad does do translations, but I am not sure that they do wiki pages.....

Otherwise, use Google Translate

How can I find out if Launchpad does translate wiki pages?

The wiki pages aren't intended to be translatable. Many pages are changing very fast, and there isn't a way to specify page version, so when a page changes, how does the user know that the translation isn't up to date?, if there is 3 languages for a given page, and only one of them get updated, how knows that the user?.

Said that, the current policy for wiki pages is that, the main language is English (most accepted international language) but some pages can be made in other languages if needed.

Cite from the #ubuntu-locoteams channel in Freenode (february 18):

<mdke> GatoLoko: there is no naming policy. Generally, localised pages should be on a separate website
<mdke> if there is no separate website, then just do whatever you feel is appropriate
<GatoLoko> ok, thats an answer at least, i can do both things, i have a personal website where i can put the translation if that is better
<FunnyLookinHat> mdke, I think something like this would be warranted to the official wiki though, wouldn't it?
<mdke> FunnyLookinHat: the wiki is generally English language, we encourage translations to happen on loco websites

Maybe your translations fits better in www.ubuntu-es.org (the international spanish team) or www.ubuntu-spain.org (the spanish (from spain) team). Don't know if there is a navaho team.

Can you help with this problem?
