Asked by Νιάνιος Ρωμανός

I create a Translation Team for Greek ubuntu with the university that i corporate with in Greece call CSD[Computer Science Department] located in Crete. [https://launchpad.net/~csd.uoc.gr]
My question is; Why we cant make translations as a team and only as individual people?
Does someone has to assign us the Greek Ubuntu Translation?Or something else?

Hi,

Yes, by default a team has no special privileges or purpose.

Also for translations teams are created in order to give review/commit privileges to team members.
The team members will stil do the work individualy.

Everyone can help the translations of a project in Launchpad, they don't need to be part a specific group.

A project could choose to use a Translations Group (not a team) for supervising the translations and in these case, members of a team from a translation group will check and approve all the suggestions.

As a team, you could be part of a bigger translations team .

For example Ubuntu Greek translation team is part of Ubuntu Translators group and is assigned for supervising translations into Greek.

You could talk with the coordinator of Ubuntu Greek translation team and help them with the translations or join the team as an individual or as a group. https://edge.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-l10n-el

You can also check the Launchpad Translations help pages: https://help.launchpad.net/Translations

If still something is not clear, please ask :)

Cheers,
