I'd like to have the "teknico" Launchpad account

I recently started work with the Online Services team.

I've been using the nickname "teknico" everywhere for eight years now. However, on Launchpad my account name is "teknico.net".

The "teknico" name is associated to an unused account. I emailed the owner, some "jon jones", respectfully asking whether he was willing to let me use the "teknico" name in Launchpad, but got no answer.

Would it be possible to reclaim the "teknico" name from the unused account, so that I may use it?

Hi Nicola,

I've emailed the account user as well, to see if we can find out if they're using the account and whether they'd be prepared to give up the ID.

We operate a "first come, first served" policy on account IDs and usually suggest that people try to negotiate with each other if they'd like to use an ID that someone else has already registered.

As you can imagine, with 2.5 million user accounts, we come across this situation quite often. We can't really decide who has the rights to a particular ID, which is why we leave it to individuals to negotiate.
