Please update the upstream SVN source of lp:xchat-gnome.

Asked by Adam Buchbinder

https://code.launchpad.net/~vcs-imports/xchat-gnome/trunk

This branch, currently aliased to lp:xchat-gnome, mirrors the previous Subversion repository that was the canonical upstream source for xchat-gnome. However, it now contains a single file ( http://svn.navi.cx/misc/trunk/xchat-gnome/MOVED ), which reads, in its entirety, "The xchat-gnome subversion repository has moved to http://svn.gnome.org/svn/xchat-gnome/".

Is it possible to edit lp:xchat-gnome so that it points to the new repository? I've tried to import the new repository, but I can't do so over the existing xchat-gnome/trunk one, and I don't have permission to edit it. If I import the new repository as, say, xchat-gnome/newtrunk, it won't match up with the series names in the rest of the system, which is why I haven't done that.

If there's something I should have done, please let me know; otherwise, please make the lp:xchat-gnome branch an alias to lp:~vcs-imports/xchat-gnome/trunk, pointing to http://svn.gnome.org/svn/xchat-gnome/. (Or svn://svn.gnome.org/svn/xchat-gnome/, which points to the same thing and may import faster.)

I think a member for the Launchpad code team can update this import.

Okay; thanks for reassigning it. We'll see if someone from the team fixes it now.

I think this can be done, but we'll have to remove the revision from the imported branch that deleted everything from the imported branch, and that will require a sysadmins help. I'll try to find one tomorrow :)

Is there an admin available to work on this?

lp:xchat-gnome is pointing to an import from the new repository already, what work do you see as remaining to be done?

The Launchpad import shows the newest revision as 2495; the latest upstream trunk version (http://svn.gnome.org/svn/xchat-gnome/trunk/) is 2735 as of the time of this writing. But even that isn't the most current version; GNOME development has moved to git, so the *actual* current source tree can be browsed here; note that the NEWS file there mentiones the release of 0.26.2:

http://git.gnome.org/browse/xchat-gnome/

The difference in revnos is to be expected, and reflects that svn counts every change repository-wide with a single counter, whilst the revno of any bzr branch is the number of mainline revisions occurring in just that branch. As such the svn import is up to date. I have now marked it suspended since the project has migrated away.

The git location was already being imported, I have retargeted the lp:xchat-gnome linkage to it.

Can you help with this problem?
