I'm not sure if there is something like assignment in launchpad per se, don't know it well enough to say, but in general you are free to contribute anything you can to any bug without "assignment".

Also see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/HowToFix, https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SponsorshipProcess and https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MOTU/GettingStarted, these should describe some ways to help.

Does that answer the question or are you looking for something else?

Hi parvathy,

Dominik has answered your question about how to work with the Ubuntu project. I'll answer it from a "how to use Launchpad" perspective. Hopefully you'll find what you need in one or both of these answers.

You can assign a bug task to yourself by expanding the relevant task in the table at the top of the bug. This is done by clicking on one of the grey down arrows (see <http://tinyurl.com/87weoj> for an example). If you have javascript disabled you'll be taken to a new page, but it works the same. Then select "Me" in the "Assigned to" area. You can also add a comment if you want, then click "Save Changes".

Note that you can't assign the whole bug to yourself; assignment is per-task only. See <https://help.launchpad.net/Bugs/MultiProjectBugs> for more information.

Gavin.

Hi parvathy,

Go to the report page of the bug that you want to assign to somebody or yourself, then in the table which lists the projects which are getting affected by the bug, under the 'Assigned to' column click the edit button against the project you want to get assigned with.
Then click 'Assign Me' button in the pop up if u want to assign yourself or type and search for the name of the person whom you want to assign and assign him/her.
I think this solves your question.

Rino Tom Thomas
