msgfmt -c don't finde any errors! and untraslated items

Asked by Sia Neriman

hi,
u deimported my files, but the msgfmt -c don't finde anything!
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/20385728/wordpress-ckb.po

####################
We were unable to import the file because of errors in its format:

Line 10017: String not terminated
####################

and another problem is:
if the old file 2.6 imported successfully, we must select all translated text again and click Save & Continue. however is already translated!
https://translations.launchpad.net/wordpress/2.7/+pots/wordpress/ckb/+translate?start=0&batch=10&show=untranslated&field.alternative_language=&field.alternative_language-empty-marker=1&old_show=all

any idea, how we have the translated text from 2.6 in 2.7 to? (Automatic)

best regards

The "String not terminated" problem is almost certainly the one we discussed on IRC last Friday: a carriage return that got inside the string and is being interpreted as a newline (which can be the right thing to do depending on the platform the string came from). It's a matter of finding and removing that if it shouldn't be there, or escaping it if it should.

The untranslated strings are a bit surprising, especially since the majority of strings seems to be already translated. However, this can happen if:

(a) gettext found problems with some of the messages, so not all messages got imported. If that is what happened, the confirmation email should contain the full listing of problems.

(b) several updates happened concurrently, i.e. there was another import between the time you exported your PO file and the time you re-uploaded it with your changes. In this case your translations will be imported as suggestions.

(c) an older translation file was imported after you imported yours.

(d) your translation was never imported for some reason, for example because the uploaded file still had the same timestamp as the one that was exported.

Based on your knowledge of this particular translation, can you rule out any of these possibilities?

Also, to get a clear picture of what happened, did you do a user upload or a published upload? And what did the confirmation email say exactly?

Can you help with this problem?
