What the (Contact this team) link does

Someone sent a message via the (Contact this team) link on the Ubuntu UK team page (https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-uk). What exactly does the contact form opened by that link do? It seems to have sent the message to some team members, but maybe not all.

In the team settings, there is an option to apply for a mailing list. There is also an option to configure a team contact email, by default, if you have a mailing list configured, the contact email address is is set to the mailing list. The "contact this team" link just sends an email to the email address that is configured as the contact address.
