No method for users (not devs) to rank problems

Asked by tz

I've recently come across a few bugs which seem to be very annoying to a large number of users, but tend to stick as unconfirmed, or low or medium priority by ubuntu or gnome or whomever they are assigned to.

The other place I often report bugs (maemo's bugzilla) has a method for people with accounts to "vote" for bugs, which might help shift the priorities, or at least signal to the developers (or the community) which are more important from the user's perspective.

Other than posting comments with impolite language in response to a being ignored or being told why it won't be fixed, there seems to be no way to try to get a message that some bug should have a higher priority.

You can increase the perceived impact of a bug by choosing "This bug affects me". Aside from this, getting developers to change their priorities is a social problem.

Can you help with this problem?
