How do I correctly filter launchpad email in gmail

Asked by Andrew Fenn

I get a lot of email from launchpad however the email do not seem to have anything similar which I can use to get gmail to filter the email into a label (folder).

Is there a common word in all launchpad email I can use because right now it's hit or miss if it actually goes in.

Could I perhaps suggest adding "mailing list: canonical.com" or something similar in email headers to any email sent out by launchpad, this would make it extremely easy to filter.

Email coming from Launchpad already has a number of headers you can use to do your filtering. The 'X-Generated-By' header shows that it comes from Launchpad and there is an 'X-Launchpad-Hash' header. Bug mails include an 'X-Launchpad-Bug' header.

Please try filtering on one of these headers and re-visit this question if you still have problems.

Gmail does not (yet?) support filtering of email on custom email headers, to filer all launchpad email I instead use the following filter:

FROM:(*@launchpad.net OR *@*.launchpad.net) OR TO:(*@launchpad.net OR *@*.launchpad.net)

Just put in in the field "Has the words:"

Can you help with this problem?
