Does Wireless Driver Atmel build into Ubuntu Support WPA

I have a Belkin 6050 wireless USB adapter that works fine when using WEB start out the box, However when trying to use WPA using wpa_supplicant, I cannot get it to authenticate. Messages about strings to long are generated and unsupported functions when restarting the network. This computer is not connect to a network, so sorry cannot type in long results.
