Easy way to analyse space usage?

Asked by TJ

I realise I could manually work through the HTTP listings for the PPA to figure out what files are using the most space in the PPA, in order to determine what, if anything, could be deleted.

However, is there an easier way to do that already in the Soyuz system?

Something as simple as sorting packages by the total disk space they use, with two preferences: by source, and by binary.

Hi TJ,

Listing 'disk-space used' by each package in a PPA context is a good idea, since it somehow can drive deletions.

I just think the we should simply present (source + binary) size value, since that's how deletion operation works on archives. Both, source and binaries, are deleted altogether.

What do you think ?

That would be great, since it would help guide decisions.

On another note - tell me if you want another question (or bug) opening:

Currently the Delete page not only doesn't show/sort by size but it only lists the first 50 packages; there is no "next" option like there is for the primary PPA view.

I had some fun earlier trying to compare packages for deletion that started with the letter N or later :)

Maybe it was never envisaged someone would maintain quite so many packages?

Hi TJ,

Could you please file a bug requesting the package-size to be mentioned and considered for ordering in the PPA packages lists ?

Thanks for you suggestion.
